What is the CBDS?

The Australian federal government's Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) is available to many school-aged children. It covers the cost of dental treatment for that child at a dentist of your choice, up to the value of $1000 over a two year period.

If you choose Heidelberg Dentist as your child's dentist and your child is eligible for CDBS, then you probably will not have any out of pocket costs for the treatments that are covered under the scheme.

However, sometimes it can be confusing and difficult (not to mention being put on hold for an eternity) to get the right information from Medicare about your child's CBDS eligibility status. What treatments are covered?

A wide range of dental treatments for children are covered under CDBS. The most common that we see being utilised by children in the Banyule area are:
