Wisdom teeth start to cut through
the gums around 18-21 years of age. Some
people are really lucky and have no pain and have enough room for their wisdom
teeth.
However due to evolution and our
changing diet, our jaws are getting smaller than what we had in caveman days
and therefore we don’t always have enough room for wisdom teeth.
When wisdom teeth are impacted it can cause pain due to pressure, or the gums can get infected or if the teeth are partially out in the mouth they can even get decayed as it can be so hard to clean properly being so far back in the mouth.

Wisdom teeth infections can be
quite serious if left untreated as they can lead to swellings of the face and difficulties
breathing.
Wisdom teeth can be removed under
local anesthetic, iv sedation or general anesthetic. At
Heidelberg dentist we can assess your
situation and give you all the possible options that would suit your needs
